Welcome to MUSHTheory!

A long long time ago (circa 1998) - a MUSH wizard and veteran who left pretty much only an email address (Laurent71!) began a document called "The Care and Feeding of Mushes." In fact, it still exists online - you can even find it and peruse the original text yourself over on Geocities - keep in mind, this was created in the days when Geocities was actually really a neat personal webservice and the ads weren't everywhere.

This was also before wikis. Can you even imagine?

But the work that Laurent left has been unvisited for some time, and the ambitious thing he set out to do was left incomplete.

Here, we're hoping to continue where he left off, bringing in many of his original points and expanding it with what we've picked up over the last ten years of the hobby. With luck, it'll prove a worthwhile resource for veterans and newbies in the hobby, and a place to bring together all of the ideas that make a game (and its players) great.

If you'd like to become an editor, check the left nav for the how to join this site link. Otherwise? Settle back and enjoy. Like the original project, this will always be a work in progress, always growing and changing as new ideas prove themselves and old ideas fade out.

Let the games begin!
